Online Poker Cheats Part 4 is part four of a four part blog series.

A lot of online casino poker players also try to cheat with the use of computer programs. These programs help them work out pot odds and the chance of getting a certain hand while they are playing the game.

Is using these programs seen as cheating? It seems that most people think it is unethical but no one is banning it. It’s a bit like using muscle supplements or steroids when playing sport – only a bad thing if you are competing professionally. Its not really an unfair advantage as anyone is able to try it out. (well, you get creatine and then you get that really psyched up high power steroids) Most poker bot programs are quite harmless.

Most online casino poker game play is instinctive, and based on the players own experience. Good online casino poker pokers know how to play creative poker based on their instincts, and very few of them focus 100% on the odds of the game. This means that poker programs would have to spend at least another decade in creating a truly excellent ‘poker bot.’

To summarize, there will always be people who try and cheat at online poker, but the cheating that slips under the radar happens less often and wins less money than you might think. Also, it is true that most online casino poker hall cheats get caught out…and thrown out.

Online Poker Cheats Part 3 is part three of a four part blog series. So far we discussed that cheating at online casino poker is wrong and that casinos are very good at catching cheats out.

Cheating via collusion is easy when you play at online casino poker rooms. Most people already have an Instant Messenger or Skype on their computers, and these tools are often used to speak to co-cheats on how to win online casino poker pots and such. Poker cheats often try this at online casino short-handed tables, as these tables offer a better edge than playing (and cheating) at a full table. This means that if you are after a fair game, you should steer clear of any table that always seems to have the same two or three players!

Poker cheats know that they have to be very sophisticated and always try to stay one step ahead of online casino poker tables. They have a habit of using multiple user names if they play at the same poker and they also play from various different computer terminals in an attempt to avoid IP detection.

These online casino poker cheats try and create big winning pots for each another and trap unsuspecting innocent players in the middle. Online casino poker rooms keep a log of all player activity, so be sure to report any suspicious activity.

Online Poker Cheats Part 2 is part two of a four part blog series.

We explained in part one that online casino poker rooms are quite good at sniffing out poker cheats and showing them the door. They know that 90% of all players just want to play the game fairly and will not play at their online casino poker room again, if they are suspecting any cheaters of stealing their money.

Besides, poker rooms make enough dough from straightforward tournament fees and rakes and they don’t have to cheat to make extra cash. (it would probably rather cause them to LOSE cash.) The truth is that honest and reputable online casino poker rooms are already generating billions of $’s in revenue.

But, just as the class clown always tries to find another way to make jokes, even after he had a spanking, online poker room cheats are always thinking up new ways to try and outsmart the poker rooms.

The most popular way to cheat at online casino poker is to go via the collusion route. This means that a bunch of friends play at the same online casino table, and tell each other what their cards are. Collusions often happen in online and offline casino poker rooms and it’s quite easy to do it online. Part three will delve deeper into the subject of collusion.

Online Poker Cheats Part 1 is part one of a four part blog series.

Poker cheating is probably just as old as the game itself. People have been trying to outsmart the casino dealer for decades, if not centuries. And online casino poker is no different.

It would be naïve of us not to think about all the men and women sitting at home, thinking how they can cheat at online casino poker. Online casino poker cheating differs from normal poker room cheating, and although cheating is wrong, the techniques used may be less sinister than you are imagining.

People often fear poker bots and even though they might not really know what a poker bot is, they imagine a terminator type of machine that is all powerful, and takes down all human players in its wake. Other fears include your opponents being able to see your cards, your opponents being able to see the poker room server’s cards, or the online casino poker room hiring poker players to beat them ‘from the inside.’

You can relax, reputable online casinos have security systems in check to make sure that these things do not happen. They have sophisticated software that can sniff out a poker bot or hacker from a mile away, and they are not scared to show cheats the door.

Online casinos know that it’s imperative for them to be fair when it comes to payouts. They have to be even more careful than regular casinos as people have a tendency to only trust what they can see. And when you visit an online casino, you cant see the staff members or how it works.

Trusted online casinos utilize a random number generator (RNG) to decide the outcome of their casino games. The RNG’s algorithms usually conform to results of similar brick and mortar games found in Vegas and Atlantic City.

Some online casinos have games that vary a bit from games found in brick and mortar casinos, but then it’s generally accepted that they will print these changes in the game outline. For instance, if the online casino shuffles their card decks after every hand (and this is not always the case in normal casinos) they have to state this.

For an online casino to be fair, they have to have their RNG checked regularly by an independent operator. These independent online casino game specialists will then certify that the online casino’s software is 100% random and fair.

It’s a good idea to only play at online casinos that have their payouts audited by a well-known third party such as eCOGRA or PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

So we can’t visit the same casino twice as different users and you are probably tempted to just then bounce from casino to casino, making cash and moving on?

Not really possible either as online casinos are starting to get smart and they are logging blacklisted users on one centralized database. Not all online casinos are members but most reputable ones are. This way they can keep tabs on you, no matter at which casino you play.

As time goes on, I predict that this software will become even more powerful and that you will carry a blacklist flag which will keep you from joining any member online casino.

Cheaters always have to be one step ahead. There re ways around it, like VMware. But virtual machines have a habit of looking the same. You will have to really change your hardware specs to make it seem believable, which is hard. Online casinos store as much of your details as they can and they will guess you are the same user, even if your virtual machine seems a bit different.

They are also probably logging your details in other ways. Not with spyware but via DRM. Online casinos reserve the right to find out that you own a licensed Java client program.

So I guess the answer to the question is this: No, you cannot really cheat an online casino unless you are exceptionally intelligent and sneaky. Or if you really have to try, simply do what the Thai Mafia does and try collusion.

Can you Cheat Online Casinos? Part 2 is part two of a two part blog series.

You see, online casinos aren’t fully automated, they need to employ some humans to run the whole operation. These humans will test anything robot -like with a dialogue box or interaction.

This way they can check if you are using a robot or not. Smart cheaters would then use a human to monitor all the online casino action and pass the ‘human test’ when necessary. This could work for a while until you simply win too much, which will lead to a kick on you cheating ass, right out the door.

And you can’t simply log in as a new user every time you are caught out. Simply clearing cookies and cache won’t cut the mustard.

The online casinos place a specific type of software in their Java clients, which you have to download, and which maps out your PC hardware. This means that if you visit the same online casino twice from the same computer, they will know you are the same person. This also means that you cannot play on the same machine as your brother and sister and auntie…

Can you Cheat Online Casinos? Part 1 is part one of a two part blog series.

Remember back in the early nineties when everyone was afraid of ‘hackers’? I mean Angelina Jolie even starred in a movie with the same name…

These days there are more hackers but it’s much more difficult to hack into anything as website managers have learnt to cover their assets more carefully. And personally I think that if you are dumb enough to fall for phishing scams, you probably deserve it.

There are groups like uhm, say the Thai mafia, who recruit hackers to help them cheat casinos. A popular yet low-tech way is to hire lots of very talented players, and paying them to all play poker in one room.

Cheating is also done by using proxies, and then clearing cookies and cache. No, not planning to give you step-by-step instructions… The thing is that its better to stay above board as its really easy to get caught and then you will be in big trouble.

Some online casino players try to write AI bots to detect other players cards and also automatically play your hands. Bad idea for a couple of reasons, as explained in Can you Cheat Online Casinos? Part 2.

How Easy is it to for Online Casinos Cheat at Online Casino Poker? Part 4 is part four of a four part blog series. For this blog to make sense, it is recommended that you first read parts one, two and three.

When looking at online casino poker and cheating, we have to also consider the risk that the online casino of our choice might have flowed poker software. Online casinos are often so pre-occupied with cryptography and firewalls that they simply overlook the fact that their software could be faulty.

Online casino software applications can introduce serious security holes. Let’s look at what fair online casino poker cards shuffling is. Any online casino poker room worth their salt should be able to offer you fair shuffling techniques. In essence, this means that any possible combo of online casino poker cards should have an equal chance of appearing in front of you. Each re-ordering of the 52 cards is called a shuffle.

In a real physical deck of poker cards, it is possible to get more than a thousand unique shuffles. When a PC random number generator shuffles a virtual online casino deck of cards, it chooses 1 of these possible combos. It is rather complicated, but the point is that it’s very easy for the software to give the online casino an advantage, and it will be very difficult to prove otherwise. Therefore, be careful to stick to reputable online casinos at all time.

How Easy is it to Cheat at Online Casino Poker? Part 3 is part three of a four part blog series. For this blog to make sense, it is recommended that you first read parts one and two.

Collusion is a unique poker problem that you won’t find in other card games. This is because online casino poker players play against other players rather than against the casino.

Collusion happens when 2 or more online casino players, work together as a team, and often share the same bankroll. They might use two computers next to each other or take part in one game and stay in touch with instant messaging.

Players who take part in collusion keep touch with their friends, and know what their friends hands look like. This is obviously easier to do over the internet than in person. Poker players at casinos have to use subtle signals like touching their face or coughing, whereas online casino players can simply tell each other what their hands are. This means we have to be more careful of this problem while playing online casino poker.
